Where is your office?
I currently live in San Francisco’s sunny Mission Neighborhood. I love the history and diversity of this eclectic neighborhood!
But we’ll meet virtually in my online office at Doxy.me.
What are your hours?
How long are your sessions?
Some people need 45 minutes and others 55 minutes, but most sessions last 50 minutes.
I try to keep within the 50 minutes to take care of any personal needs (I have the bladder of a 50-year-old man) and start focusing on the next patient. I do this for you, too, so please help me do this for the next person.
How much do you charge?
It’s my calling, but since I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I do need to charge.
My rate is $200 per session.
Do you take insurance?
To insurance or not to insurance… that is the question!
I am not in-network with insurance companies.
If you have out-of-network mental health benefits as a part of your insurance plan, my billing company, Thrizer, will help you get them. They’ll submit a “Superbill” to insurance on your behalf, and you may receive 0-100% reimbursement of your out-of-pocket cost.
How do I set up an appointment?
Call me for a free 15-minute consultation: (315) 876-4419.
If we agree that I am a fit for your needs, I will give you an appointment time and send you links to set up services.
What is your cancellation policy?
Unless you are part of the Rapture, I require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations. Otherwise, I charge the full fee for the session.
Out-of-network benefits cannot be used to cover late-cancellation or no-show fees.
With whom do you work?
I work with adult mammals (mostly humans – ages 18 and up).
My practice focuses primarily on men (and the people who love them), secondarily on medical professionals, and thirdly on LGBTQ+ folks.
What do you do in sessions with clients?
I listen – to what is being said and what is NOT being said.
I build you up – through teaching, guiding, and celebrating.
We collaborate – exploring, creating, and recreating your life.
In the end, I’m here to help you enter a deep, connected relationship with your Self so that you can connect deeply with your lovers and communities.
Do your clients receive assignments between sessions?
Yes. Depending on your needs, they’ll be informal or formal.
Assignments are never graded, and you’re not expelled if you don’t get it done. We’ll just figure out what kept you from it and move forward.
Therapy with me is meant to be 100% shame-free!
What modalities do you use?
I use mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Jungian-oriented psychotherapy. But that probably doesn’t mean a lot to you!
I draw from all my education, training, business experience, and spiritual insights to provide you with coaching and therapy to improve your life.
We’ll discover what you need and why you are not getting it and make the changes necessary so that you do get it.
No two therapy experiences will ever be the same.
What’s your professional training and experience?
Good lord… how much do you want to read?
I have extensive training and personal and professional experience with Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Jungian-Oriented Psychotherapy (among others).
And every year, I spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours continuing to learn and experience new modalities to benefit you and me!
What else does a client need to know to make the most of working with you?
Don’t worry if that is hard for you. I can help!
Do you take walks without your dogs?
Yes, but please don’t tell them if you see them in the virtual room during one of our sessions.
What is your favorite food?
I grew up in Syracuse, New York: chicken parmesan with a side of fresh-baked Italian bread.
If you’ve never been to Syracuse, I recommend going between June and October (between snows!). Maybe go during the New York State Fair when you can get a free baked potato. As a teen, I waited in line for 30 minutes to get one (go figure)!
When did you know you were an adult?
Great question! When I turned 25, I looked in the mirror and realized I had to give up my 250-square-foot studio and job as a busboy in New York City to return to Cornell and finish that degree. That was an adultish moment.
But really, I would say 40. Yes, at 40, I felt like an adult. And 50… well, 50 was the magic moment when I started owning the truth of my deep, spiritual, heart-centered Self.
Don’t be like George. Connect to your deepest Self now!
Why did you stop riding motorcycles?
How do you stay organized?
Piles. Don’t judge. Remember, I offer a nonjudgmental space. I would say a judgment-free zone, but I’m pretty sure that’s trademarked.
I am taking three advanced courses, working in private practice, and consulting. Each course and business has its own pile.
Rest easy, though: Your information will be in my HIPAA-compliant medical record!
